Description

This module delays the activation of a connected accessory by an adjustable amount of time, providing both a high-side and low-side switching output.
When 12v power and ground are applied to the module, it waits for the configured delay (adjustable in the range of approx. 0.5 to 10 seconds), then switches 12v onto the high-side output and connects the low-side output to ground. Both outputs remain active continuously for as long as input power is supplied. When input power is removed, the module resets quickly, ready to provide the same delay the next time input power is applied.

The high-side output can source up to 5 amps, while the low-side output can sink up to 2 amps. This is suitable for most ECU signal wires, low current loads, or driving an automotive relay for higher currents.
Both outputs contain overload, overtemperature, overvoltage, short circuit and ESD protection.
An internal regulated supply reduces the effect of battery voltage fluctuations on the timing delay.
The module draws approximately 20mA when idle, plus any current supplied through the high-side output (depending on the connected accessory).

Astra power steering pump conversions are an excellent use case for this module. Delaying the ignition signal to the Astra pump allows it to spin up immediately, rather than the slow start-up that occurs when the battery and ignition inputs are connected together.
