Description
Holden VS Commodore models used one of 2 different types of VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) depending on application:
- Auto + Getrag Manual: Inductive (AC voltage) – PCM terminals C6 / D5
- T5 Manual: Hall effect (DC voltage) – PCM terminal D2
Most VS PCM’s are missing hardware components to accept a T5 manual hall effect VSS signal.
When converting a VS to T5 manual, the missing vehicle speed signal causes drivability issues – such as stalling when changing down gears.
The missing components can be added to the PCM – allowing the T5 VSS to function.
If you are unsure if your PCM already has the T5 VSS components, open it up and see if the parts listed in the fitting instructions below are fitted.
The components be purchased as a kit (for you to install yourself, or have someone local install) – or as a installation service (where you send the PCM to me).
If purchasing the component kit: be aware that experience soldering and reworking small 0805 SMD components is required. Conformal coating needs to be removed from the PCB and should be reapplied afterwards. The markings on the components are small and will require magnification to read. The diode needs to be fitted with correct polarity.
If sending your PCM in for the installation service: you will receive an email after purchase with the address to post it to. Ensure to include order details in the package so I know it’s yours when it arrives. Turn around time is 1-3 business days, and it will be sent back via express post.
